Purple People Kitchen Food Bank

The volunteers of the Food Bank are making an urgent appeal for donations in kind or in cash to allow them to continue with the vital work they do for residents of Portslade and West Hove, to meet with the increasing demand on the service they offer.
On Friday 17th April alone 17 new applicant made requests, as well as providing help for those already known to them and this is in spite of receiving less supplies each week from Fareshare, who act as distributing agent to the various Food Banks in our area.
They are the only Food Bank who also provide applicants a hot meal on each visit. We live in one of the less affluent areas of Brighton and Hove so they
do need your help

If anyone wishes to make a donation in kind or in cash to help support the work of the Foodbank, please contact either Ann Menhinick on 07789 765 933
Items of used but wearable clothing are also welcome.
The two photos below illustrate the goods they had left over from the previous week, before and after the arrival of the supplies from Fareshare on Friday 17th April, which have to be distributed to over 50 applicants each week

The Food Bank operates from the kitchen at the rear of Portslade Town Hall, every Friday from Noon until 2.00.
Obviously, there are terms and conditions about those to who can we can distribute food, the chief one being that applicants must have a referral from Social Services, the YMCA and other similar agencies, (see below).
Although applicants can be given food on their first visit if they don't have one, this will be at the discretion of the volunteers.
The Terms and Conditions of its use are shown below and further help can be obtained from Ann Menhinick on 07789 765 933 or a.menhinick@btinternet.com
